What is the APC?
The America’s Poison Centers (APC) is a nonprofit, nationwide organization founded in 1958 that represents U.S. poison centers and supports the prevention and treatment of poisoning.
Your Poison Center is a member of APC.
America’s Poison Centers includes 53 poison centers, along with other poison-related organizations. Its mission is to advance poison centers in their public health role.
APC Support
- Represents U.S. poison control centers
- Partners with federal agencies and organizations to promote poison center services
- Provides accreditation for U.S. poison control centers
- Offers continuing education for poison center staff
- Certifies poison center personnel
- Maintains the National Poison Data System (NPDS)
- Conducts toxicosurveillance and publishes national poison data reports
- Supports poison centers in education and outreach efforts
- Connects media, organizations, and agencies with toxicology experts
- Co-hosts the North American Congress of Clinical Toxicology, a leading international toxicology conference
